About the Workshop
The three-day workshop was conducted to equip Other Stakeholder Service Officers with a comprehensive understanding of the Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) framework and its importance in managing tropical water ecosystems. Participants were introduced to the unique challenges of the Indian Ocean Region—such as sonar performance limitations, environmental fluctuations, sediment transport, biodiversity dynamics, and resource utilization—while also exploring the need for policy, technology, and acoustic capacity building. Through expert-led sessions and project-based learning, the workshop provided a structured pathway for strengthening research, innovation, and governance practices essential for sustainable security, blue economy growth, and climate-risk management.
